Donated crayons too small or broken to be used are transformed into larger heart shaped crayons. As an ongoing project Color The Camps recycles all unusable crayons to prevent any waste from reaching landfills.
To further encourage social entrepreneurship in the refugee camps, Color The Camps distributes heart shaped molds that can be used to melt unusable crayons using anything from a stove to the power of the sun. Refugees can collect crayons when they become unusable and make their own heart crayons which can be used or sold back to Color The Camps to benefit their families.
Heart shaped crayons are available for purchase online and in a variety of local stores in Colorado. All proceeds from these sales go directly to supporting refugees and Color The Camp’s mission to empower youth through creative expression and cultural understanding by distributing art supplies and facilitating community art programs within refugee camps.
